What is UVI.today?

UVI.today is a free UV index tool built for anyone who spends time outdoors. It shows the current UV level, hourly forecasts, a 5-day UV trend, and sun protection advice based on WHO guidelines — for thousands of cities worldwide, with no accounts or tracking.

Why we built it

Most weather apps bury UV data, round it into vague categories, or require you to sign up. During high-UV seasons, knowing the exact peak time can be the difference between a good day outside and a bad sunburn. We wanted a clean, fast tool that works on your phone while you're already outdoors — no clutter, no nonsense.

Data sources

• CAMS (Copernicus) — UV index data from satellite-measured ozone and aerosol observations via Open-Meteo
• WHO — Sun protection categories and recommendations from Global Solar UV Index, 2002
• Yr/NRK — Weather symbols © Yr/NRK, CC BY 4.0

How it works

UV data comes from the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS), which uses satellite-measured ozone and aerosol data for accurate UV index calculations worldwide. Weather data (temperature, cloud cover, sunrise/sunset) comes from Open-Meteo.

Free and privacy-first

UVI.today is free to use and supported by non-intrusive ads. Your IP is never stored. No cookies, no user accounts, no data selling.
