UV Index Moldova
According to the WHO, the average daily ambient ultraviolet radiation in Moldova is 1,910 J/m² (joules per square metre).
UV radiation overview
Moldova is a landlocked Eastern European country between roughly 45.5°N and 48.5°N, wedged between the Prut River on the west and the Dniester on the east. The terrain is a gently rolling lowland of hills, plains and river valleys, with the country's highest point at Bălănești Hill reaching only about 430 metres. Its position deep in the continental interior gives Moldova a temperate continental climate with warm, sunny summers and cold winters, and no moderating sea coast.
Moldova's UV environment is unusually homogeneous: the near-uniform low-relief topography means there are no high mountains or coastal contrasts to break up insolation, so daily UV index values differ very little from the Prut valley in the west to the Dniester in the east. The country is one of Eastern Europe's sunniest small states, receiving roughly 2,100–2,300 hours of sunshine per year, with the Codri forest belt across the central hills providing one of the few sources of natural shade. The State Hydrometeorological Service (Serviciul Hidrometeorologic de Stat) issues the national weather bulletins, including UV-relevant cloud and solar information.
Moldova sits at #167 of 191 in the WHO's global ambient-UV ranking with about 1,910 J/m² of average daily UV, around the 13th percentile worldwide.
